Dia Group ended fiscal 2013 having achieved the targets it\u00a0set itself at the start of the year, thanks to the dynamic performance of markets such as the one\u00a0in Brazil, and DIA\u2019s excellent positioning in Iberia. The Group\u2019s gross sales under banner\u00a0reached EUR11.476bn, implying a 7.2% increase in local currency. In Spain, gross sales under\u00a0banner grew by 5.7%, reaching EUR5.199bn.<\/p>

\u201c2013 has been a great year for DIA. In an extremely challenging scenario, we have\u00a0achieved our goals. In Iberia, we have reached an outstanding level of profitability, gaining\u00a0market share for yet another year, especially through an ambitious and well-executed\u00a0expansion plan based mainly on the growth of franchise. These entrepreneurs make the DIA\u00a0system more flexible and resilient than ever, and they will remain a master pillar of DIA\u2019s equity\u00a0story in the future. I want to highlight the performance of our teams integrating Schlecker into\u00a0the DIA group, which is well ahead of our plans, turning around the decline in sales while\u00a0managing to regain (after only eleven months of operations) profitability levels that Schlecker\u00a0only achieved well before being acquired. The relevance of our strategy, our clear roadmap and\u00a0timing and, above all, the flawless execution of our teams, make me feel confident in our ability\u00a0to achieve our long-term goals\u201d, declared Ricardo Curr\u00e1s, CEO of DIA.<\/p>

Adjusted net profit reached EUR227.7m, implying 11.7% growth, supported by a 6.8%\u00a0increase in adjusted EBITDA, reaching EUR642m. While DIA expects a tough 2014 for\u00a0consumers in many of its markets, the combination of being proximity experts and offering the\u00a0best prices will allow the company to continue to grow. Accordingly, DIA estimates that its\u00a0investment in store openings will be higher than in 2013.<\/p>

DIA\u2019s Board of Directors will propose at the General Shareholders\u2019 Meeting the\u00a0distribution of a gross dividend of EUR0.16 per share, implying a 23% increase versus 2012,\u00a0and a payout of 46%.<\/p>
